John Gastright, senior vice president for government affairs at Falls Church, Virginia-based government services contractor Amentum, has been appointed chairman of the board of directors of the International Stability Operations Association, GovCon Wire has learned.
He succeeds Thomas Lampley, who has been at the helm of ISOA since October 2021, the organization said Tuesday.
Prior to Amentum, Gastright was SVP for government relations, communications and Middle East operations at DynCorp International.
He held leadership roles at the State Department, including deputy assistant secretary of state for Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and director for house affairs at the department’s bureau of legislative affairs.
Gastright is a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a congressional staffer in the House and Senate between 1995 and 2003. He currently serves as president of the Project 2049 Institute, an Arlington, Virginia-based think tank.
“My goal as Chairman is to deepen our relationships and develop new opportunities for our industry to support our customers. This initiative includes embracing Industry trends and innovation of our current and future members,” Gastright said.
