Amentum has secured a $120 million contract from the Defense Information Systems Agency for dynamically scalable computing power.
How Will Amentum Support DISA?
The company said Tuesday that the Z-series chipset Processor Capacity Services contract covers the provision and maintenance of hardware, software, licensing and operational services.
DISA uses Z-series mainframe chips in its hosting environment to provide computer processing for partners. The agency purchases computing capacity on-demand to meet evolving needs.
According to Travis Mackland, senior vice president of digital transformation for Amentum’s engineering and technology business, the on-demand approach enables flexibility and enhances value and mission effectiveness for the agency.
“The service model readily adjusts to changing requirements, including increases and decreases in power usage, allowing DISA to pay only for the computing power it uses,” he explained.
Mark Walter, president of Amentum’s Engineering and Technology Group, added that Amentum’s processor capacity exceeds 99.999 percent availability.
The contract has a five-year base period of performance and five additional one-year option periods.
AECOM’s URS Federal Services arm, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and ViON also won contracts in 2018 to provide processor capacity services to DISA.
How Is Amentum Supporting the Air Force?
Amentum is a longtime partner of the Department of War components and the U.S. military. In October, the Chantilly, Virginia-based company also secured an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract valued at $995 million to provide organizational-level maintenance support for the service’s fleet of MQ-9 Reaper remotely piloted aircraft systems.
