Alain Bellemare, an aerospace industry veteran, has been appointed an operating executive within the global aerospace, defense and government services group at The Carlyle Group (Nasdaq: CG).
He will help identify investment and partnership opportunities and advise the executives and management teams of companies within Carlyle’s aerospace portfolio on leadership, growth strategies, operations, risk management and talent development, Carlyle said Wednesday.
“We’re increasingly focused on providing portfolio companies with direct access to a range of resources across Carlyle including our global network and significant in-house and external intellectual capital,” said Adam Palmer, managing director and global head of aerospace, defense and government services and co-head of growth equity at Carlyle. “We believe Alain’s extensive leadership experience in the Aerospace industry will be instrumental in supporting our team to build and grow great companies and find compelling investment opportunities.”
Bellemare is former president and CEO of Bombardier. He held senior leadership roles at United Technologies Corp., which now operates as Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX), and Pratt & Whitney.
He is a member of the faculty advisory board of McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management and former board member of the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
