Airbus Secures $123M in Army Utility Helicopter Procurement Funds

Airbus has secured a $122.6M contract modification to provide 15 light utility helicopters to the U.S. Army.

The company will build the UH-72 Lakota helicopters at a facility in Columbus, Miss., and is projected to finish contract work by Aug. 31, 2022, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

The twin-engine vehicle is designed to support public safety, transportation and law enforcement missions. DoD noted the service branch has used fiscal 2018 aircraft procurement funds to cover the full obligated amount.
