Ellwood National Forge and Superior Forge and Steel Corp. have been selected to manufacture massive ordnance penetrators and penetrator warhead cases for the U.S. Air Force under a potential eight-year, $90M contract.
The multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covers GBU-57 bombs, BLU-J 27C/B warhead case assemblies and related parts, the Department of Defense said Monday.
USAF allocated $3K in fiscal 2018 ammunition production funds on the initial delivery order of each contractor.
Work will take place at contractor facilities in Lima, Ohio and Irvine, Pa. The Pentagon expects both companies to fulfill all orders by Oct. 28, 2027.
