A joint venture between Fluor (NYSE: FLR) and AMEC has received a potential $170M task order from the U.S. Air Force to perform repair services at a military airfield located in the South Atlantic Ocean.
Fluor said Wednesday it will help fix the Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield’s runway under the cost-plus, fixed-fee order awarded through the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program IV contract.
The task is for up to 28 months of work.
“We are honored to be selected to support the Air Force and to be a part of its global mission,” said Tom D’Agostino, president of Fluor’s government group and a 2019 Wash100 awardee.
“Ascension Auxiliary Airfield is in a strategic location and the runway is the lifeline to the island,” he added.
The Fluor-Amec II JV won its position on the $5B AFCAP IV procurement vehicle in 2015.
Ascension Island is a volcanic island situated near the equator and is under the British government’s area of jurisdiction.
