The U.S. Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center is seeking interested parties who can manage a consortium to support the service branch™s plans to recompete an other transaction agreement for space-related technology prototyping efforts.
SMC™s innovation and prototyping directorate has requested industry feedback to inform its strategy for using the Space Enterprise Consortium for research, development, test and evaluation of space vehicles, launch capabilities, payloads and related ground-based platforms, according to a FedBizOpps notice posted Tuesday.
The SpEC manager will oversee the consortium comprised of academic and private sector entities that will work on RDT&E projects that may involve top secret or sensitive government information. The government plans to allocate $12B to the consortium manager, whose responsibilities include oversight and solicitation development functions throughout a 10-year period.
According to the notice, the government wants the SpEC manager to promote cybersecurity within the consortium, minimize barriers for nontraditional vendors and small businesses and prevent technology perishability. Responses are due Sept. 6.
