The U.S. Air Force plans to award Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) a potential five-year, $125M contract to update software of the service branch’s AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile system.
A USAF presolicitation notice published Wednesday says the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract will have delivery orders for modeling and simulation services, laboratory test system modernization and research of approaches to counter emerging threats and increase weapon lethality.
Other possible orders include assessment of system performance and development of software iterations for foreign military customers.
According to the notice, Raytheon is the only source that has extensive experience and can provide the “required, specific and detailed knowledge” on AMRAAM missile development.
The military service expects contract work to take place between October 1 of this year and Sept. 30, 2024. The IDIQ will contain options that may extend work through Sept. 30, 2026.
