Raytheon (NYSE: RTN) has landed a potential $78 million contract to supply the U.S. Air Force with identification friend-or-foe transponders and ancillary equipment.
The Air Force will obligate $1.4 million in fiscal 2017 procurement funds at the time of award, the Defense Departmentsaid Friday.
DoD expects Raytheon to complete work under the sole-source, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract on Jan. 6, 2020.
IFFs are designed to operate with military and civilian air traffic control interrogation systems, identify if vehicles or troops are friendly and determine the bearing and range of a target from the interrogator, according to Raytheon.
