AeroVironment Promotes Mary Clum, Michael Pace & John Hogan to New Leadership Roles

AeroVironment has elevated Mary Clum to president of space, cyber and directed energyMichael Pace to senior vice president of space and DE mission systems, and John Hogan to VP of defense and interagency services.

Who Is Mary Clum?

Clum currently serves as executive vice president of space and DE mission systems and will assume her new role Oct. 24, AV said Monday. She will report directly to Chairman, President and CEO Wahid Nawabi. Clum succeeds Trip Ferguson, who is stepping down but will remain to support the transition.

The defense industry veteran, with more than 25 years of experience, joined AV in May 2025 through its acquisition of BlueHalo, where she held senior roles, including product and space systems president, corporate executive VP and sector general manager. Before that, Clum spent more than a decade at Raytheon serving various roles, including senior manager.

Who Is Michael Pace?

Michael Pace, an expert in digital beamformed phased arrays and software-defined architectures, is the current SVP of space RF systems. Before joining AV, he spent six years at BlueHalo in various senior advanced RF roles. Pace previously served as chief engineer and senior principal system engineer at Raytheon.

Who Is John Hogan?

Prior to his new role, Hogan served for over a year as VP of advanced research and development. He previously worked at MORSE as chief engineer and group lead and at Barbaricum as VP of research and engineering. Hogan held several leadership roles at BAE Systems for over eight years and spent 15 years with IISI as president and CEO.
