TYSONS CORNER, VA, August 28, 2019 AECOM (NYSE: ACM) has concluded the decontamination of Knolls Atomic Power Laboratorys nuclear facilities in New York as part of a project with the Department of Energy, ExecutiveBiz reported Aug. 20.
The Separations Process Research Unit nuclear facilities, located near Niskayuna, New York, span 50K square feet and were used for chemical processes related to nuclear weapons and power plants, AECOM said Aug. 19. In addition, waste materials were handled on the 27 acres of land near SPRU.
“The completion of the cleanup is a major accomplishment that not only reduces the environmental risk to the community and the State of New York, but also aids our DOE client in accelerating the momentum of its Environmental Management mission,” said John Vollmer, president of AECOMs management services group and a four-time Wash100 Award winner.
