Accenture: Aerospace, Defense Leaders See AI as Tech Game Changer

A new Accenture (NYSE: ACN) report shows that 33 percent of aerospace and defense executives said they expect their organizations to witness the greatest impact from artificial intelligence in the next three years compared with distributed ledger, quantum computing and other emerging technologies.

Accenture said Thursday it surveyed 113 A&D industry executives for the Aerospace & Defense Technology Vision 2019 report and found that 67 percent of respondents said their companies have either implemented AI or started pilot projects related to the technology.

Some of the AI-related benefits cited in the study include the technology™s capability to advance the use of smart manufacturing and predictive analytics for maintenance and promote automation that enables organizations to free up employees from repetitive work.

œA&D executives need to find ways to accelerate their adoption of broader AI solutions that can deliver breakthrough outcomes by focusing not just on the technology but also on how they want to transform their workforce and capabilities, said John Schmidt, head of Accenture™s global aerospace and defense practice.

The study also showed that nearly 70 percent of respondents said they believe the need for workforce reskilling has increased in their companies driven by the speed at which employees move between organizations and positions.

Seventy-six percent of the respondents said they believe their companies can determine market opportunities for unmet client needs through digital demographics.
