The General Services Administration has added approximately 500 small businesses to a list of contractors that won positions on the agency’s 8(a)Â Streamlined Technology Acquisition Resources for Services II open season contract.

GSA said Thursday 8(a) STARS II is a governmentwide acquisition contract designed to provide federal agencies access to information technology platforms and services that include computer programming, computer facilities management, computer systems design and other computer-related support.
Mary Davie, GSA’s assistant commissioner of the IT category, said the awarding of the 8(a) STARS II open season reflects the agency’s commitment to provide agencies with a pool of IT contractors.
“The ability to issue directed orders to firms streamlines procurements and allows agencies to meet small business objectives while obtaining services faster than traditional open market acquisitions,†added Davie, an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2017.
The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covers at least 800 IT firms and aligns with category management’s IT services hallway on the acquisition gateway.
The ordering period for the multiple-award contract will run through Aug. 30, 2021, and the performance period will continue through Aug. 30, 2024.
The contract award came two years after GSA started to seek proposals for the open season of the GWAC contract.
