The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Electric Boat a $1.85 billion undefinitized contract action modification to a previously awarded contract for long lead time material and preliminary construction efforts associated with Virginia-class Block VI submarines.

Work will be performed in California, Arizona, Virginia, Texas, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, West Virginia, Minnesota, Illinois, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York and other locations through September 2035, the Department of Defense said.
Naval Sea Systems Command obligated $1.68 billion in fiscal 2025 shipbuilding and conversion Navy funds at the time of award.
Navy’s Base Contract Award to GD Electric Boat
The General Dynamics electric boat division secured the base contract, valued at $3.3 billion, in 2023 to support the procurement, construction, maintenance and lifecycle sustainment of the Virginia-class nuclear-powered fast-attack submarines.
Major subcontractors, including C&C Metals Engineering, Scot Forge Company, Tioga Pipe and Teledyne Instruments, are providing specialized components and services related to submarine construction and maintenance.
