Terran Orbital has appointed Jamin Brown as chief operating officer, bringing a longtime Lockheed Martin executive to the satellite manufacturer as it prepares to meet growing customer demand.
Terran Orbital is a Lockheed Martin company.
Who Is Jamin Brown?
Brown is an aerospace and defense executive who spent more than 20 years at Lockheed, Terran Orbital said Tuesday. Before moving to Terran Orbital, Brown served as vice president of missile defense programs at Lockheed’s space business and concurrently led the company’s Huntsville site as general manager, directing integrated missile defense work for U.S. government and international military customers. His portfolio covered Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, targets and countermeasures, hypersonic defense, directed energy, and space surveillance.
He previously served as senior director of strategy and business development and as senior director and deputy vice president of the Hypersonic Strike Weapon Systems mission segment, overseeing the Conventional Prompt Strike and Long Range Hypersonic Weapon programs.
Brown’s earlier Lockheed posts include director of program management, director of Fleet Ballistic Missile Colorado site operations and senior manager of program management for the Common Missile Compartment program. He joined Lockheed in March 2006 as an electronics engineer.
How Will Brown Support Terran Orbital?
As COO, Brown will oversee the company’s operations. His priorities center on expanding production capacity and sharpening operational performance to deliver at higher volumes, at faster speeds and at lower costs.
Brown will work directly with President and CEO Peter Kraus and operate out of the company’s Irvine, California, headquarters.
Commenting on Brown’s appointment, Krauss said: “Jamin brings extensive experience leading complex technical organizations and executing some of the most demanding aerospace and defense programs.”
“His operational leadership will help us strengthen execution, increase production, and ensure we are positioned to deliver for our customers as their needs continue to grow,” Krauss added.
Brown’s appointment follows other recent additions to Terran Orbital’s senior leadership. In January, the company appointed Michael Vishion as vice president of program management, giving him responsibility for aligning engineering, manufacturing and program teams.
Terran Orbital also appointed former Lockheed Martin Space executive Cheryl Paquete as chief financial officer in November 2025. Paquete was tasked with overseeing financial strategy as the company worked to scale its satellite manufacturing operations.
