Tychon has appointed Garland Garris, a thought leader and cybersecurity executive, as senior vice president of research and technology strategy.
In a LinkedIn post, Tychon said Garris’ professional background and industry relationships are expected to support the company’s efforts to help organizations assess their cryptographic risk and transition toward post-quantum security.
What Are Garris’ Responsibilities at Tychon?
In his new role, Garris will focus on driving Tychon’s growth across defense, federal, financial services, critical infrastructure and other strategic markets. He will also work to advance the company’s positioning in quantum readiness, post-quantum cryptography and crypto-agility.
Garris is expected to build relationships with customers, partners, policymakers, analysts and industry organizations, as well as incorporate policy developments, competitive intelligence and customer requirements into Tychon’s product and roadmap planning.
Who Is Garland Garris?
Garris is a cybersecurity and technology executive with a career spanning both government and industry. Before joining Tychon, he served as emerging technology lead for quantum, secure AI, secure high-performance computing and advanced cybersecurity at Accenture Federal Services, a role he held for more than five years.
Garris spent more than 14 years at the FBI, where he held a series of progressively senior technology and security roles, including chief technology strategy officer, chief cybersecurity executive and chief insider threat officer, following earlier service as a supervisory computer scientist. His government career also includes technology leadership positions with the West Virginia Department of Agriculture and the West Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Administration.
The West Virginia State University computer science graduate holds a master’s degree in IT from Marshall University.
What Is Tychon?
Tychon is a Fairfax, Virginia-based cybersecurity software company that develops technologies focused on cryptographic visibility, configuration management and post-quantum readiness.
In February, Tychon partnered with HCLSoftware to integrate its Automated Cryptography Discovery and Inventory technology into the HCL BigFix platform to expand the delivery of quantum-readiness capabilities to government agencies and commercial enterprises.
In March 2025, Tychon joined the National Institute of Standards and Technology National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence’s post-quantum cryptography consortium to raise awareness and develop practices to facilitate the transition to post-quantum algorithms.
