What Does the HPC Contract Cover?
The Department of War said Friday ARA will perform research and development services for the Center for High Performance Computing. According to the solicitation notice published on SAM.gov, the contract also covers engineering, technical and transition support services, including high-performance computing and network protocol design, requirements and performance analysis of concepts and systems, and development of cryptographic capabilities.
What Are the Other Details of the Contract?
The contract is structured as a cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-only award with no options included. Alongside the award, the Navy issued a concurrent task order valued at $14.6 million, with options that could bring its cumulative value to $44.6 million. The Albuquerque, New Mexico-based company will perform work under the initial task order at the NRL facility in Washington, D.C., with completion expected by May 2027.
Funding obligated at the time of award includes $492,326 in fiscal 2026 defense research, development, test and evaluation funds, or RDT&E, $955,901 in fiscal 2026 Navy RDT&E funds, $438,169 in fiscal 2026 Navy procurement funds and $613,600 in defense working capital funds. The obligated funds will not expire at the end of the fiscal year.
How Does the Award Fit Into ARA’s Navy Portfolio?
The award adds to ARA’s growing portfolio of Navy work. In 2022, the company secured a five-year, $48 million Navy contract to support R&D efforts for non-lethal weapon technologies. ARA also previously won a spot on a potential $249.7 million Navy IDIQ contract for unmanned systems engineering and technical support services tied to mine countermeasure platforms.
