What Is the Reagan Test Range?

The Reagan Test Range provides DOW and the military services with an environment to evaluate long-range ballistic missiles, reentry vehicles and other systems. Because of the distance between the continental United States and Kwajalein Atoll, the Pentagon can launch and observe missiles across all phases of flight, Defence Blog reported.

The Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile, or ICBM, is among the weapons tested at the Reagan Test Range. In March, the U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command flew a Minuteman III ICBM, equipped with two test re-entry vehicles, from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California toward a pre-established impact point at Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The exercise validated the accuracy, reliability and performance of the weapon system.
