Ron Moore Named GDMS CIO, VP of IT

General Dynamics Mission Systems has promoted Ron Moore, chief information security officer and director of cybersecurity since 2015, to vice president of IT and chief information officer.

GDMS said Monday Moore, most recently deputy CIO, will continue serving as CISO until a successor is named.

In this capacity, he will oversee the advancement of the company’s IT infrastructure and technical capabilities to strengthen cybersecurity, program execution and operational efficiency in support of mission requirements.

John Klote, director for IT governance, performance and service management at GDMS, highlighted Moore’s leadership and collaborative approach.

Who Is Ron Moore?

Moore is a seasoned cybersecurity executive whose experience spans federal and commercial environments. He brings to the role his experience in cyber policy development, strategic network architecture and incident remediation planning.

In 2015, he joined GDMS from Ernst & Young, where he served as senior manager of information security.

His industry background includes early technical and consulting roles at Magee Enterprises and Arthur Andersen, followed by work in IT audit management at Northrop Grumman. He later joined EY in 2004.

The U.S. Marine Corps veteran has received the Stephanie C. Hill BEYA Legacy Award for advancing inclusion in engineering and technology and has been a nominee for Pinnacle Cybersecurity Executive of the Year.

Moore said he is honored to take on the role of CIO at GDMS.

What Is General Dynamics Mission Systems?

GDMS is a General Dynamics business unit based in Chantilly, Virginia, with approximately 12,000 employees. It provides mission-critical systems to defense, intelligence and cybersecurity clients across all domains.

Moore’s appointment follows other recent leadership moves at GDMS. In January, the business unit named Chris Jaeger as VP of cross business and strategic initiatives, marking his return to GDMS after more than three decades in federal service. In October, GDMS appointed Brendan Grant, a 16-year company veteran, as VP of space systems.

GDMS has secured several contracts related to defense modernization efforts. In September, the U.S. Army awarded GDMS a rapid prototype other transactional authority agreement to build a chassis that would enable soldiers to integrate capabilities into military vehicles. In August, the business secured a U.S. Navy contract potentially worth up to $230 million to provide common weapon launchers and multitube weapon simulators for submarine fleets.
