David Lee, field chief technology officer at Saviynt, said adopting a cloud-based, artificial intelligence-powered identity security platform could help government agencies mitigate risks by unifying a wide range of activities and tools in a single place.
What Is Identity Governance & Administration?
In an article published on Carahsoft.com, Lee outlined how identity governance and administration, or IGA, enables agencies to address limited visibility, misconfigurations and other cloud-related risks. He noted that IGA offers end-to-end control over the lifecycle of identities.
“IGA, a branch of identity and access management, encompasses the security processes that govern and manage identities. IGA validates requests upfront and ensure that access is provisioned in line with the organization’s policies. Entitlements are continuously certified and access is quickly revoked when it’s no longer needed,” he stated.
“A robust IGA platform will secure human and non-human identities while automating the processes associated with application and data access, allowing security teams to streamline activities, ensure ongoing compliance and reduce organizational risk,” he added.
With IGA in place, Lee said agencies gain the oversight and governance necessary to minimize their attack surface while aligning security with compliance and business requirements.
What Is Saviynt Identity Cloud?
According to Lee, cloud-deployed IGA platforms like Saviynt Identity Cloud help unify governance across cloud, on-premises and hybrid environments via a connector framework that communicates to an agency’s applications.
He noted that Saviynt Identity Cloud holds a FedRAMP Moderate authority to operate and is designed to meet the Department of Defense Impact Level 5 security requirements for safeguarding controlled unclassified information and national security systems.
Lee added that the platform helps agencies close security gaps left by point solutions and combines granular application access, identity governance and privileged access together in a single system.
“The Saviynt Identity Cloud eliminates the struggle of keeping dozens of moving parts in sync, instead providing agencies with an identity ecosystem that functions as a single, easily managed system,” he said.
