What Are the Details of Singapore’s $353M FMS Request?
Singapore has requested construction, logistics and program support services as an addition to a previously implemented FMS case, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday. The original $27 million case covered U.S. government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support.
The potential deal is intended to strengthen Singapore’s capacity to maintain operational readiness and enhance interoperability with U.S. and coalition forces. It also aims to support U.S. foreign policy and national security objectives by reinforcing the security of a key partner that contributes to political stability and economic growth in Asia.
Principal contractors for the potential sale are yet to be determined. The U.S. government has not identified any offset agreements at this stage. Any such arrangements will be negotiated directly between Singapore and future contractors. Additional government or contractor personnel will not be required.
