Lockheed Awarded $133M Navy Contract Modification for Hypersonic Missile Development

Lockheed Martin has received a U.S. Navy contract modification worth approximately $132.6 million to provide systems engineering, development and testing support for the Conventional Prompt Strike, or CPS, program.

Scope of Navy CPS Contract Modification

The Department of War said Friday Lockheed’s space business will perform work in Colorado, California, Florida, Massachusetts, Alabama, Utah, Connecticut, Washington, D.C., and other locations through Dec. 31, 2025.

The Strategic Systems Programs in Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity and obligates $25 million in fiscal 2025 research, development, test and evaluation funds for the sole-source, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract modification.

What Is Conventional Prompt Strike?

The CPS program seeks to build and test a hypersonic boost-glide missile that could rapidly deliver precision-guided, long-range strike capability against enemy defenses.

In June 2024, Lockheed’s space business secured a $534 million Navy contract modification to provide development, systems engineering and testing services for the program.

In 2023, the Navy awarded the company a $316 million contract modification for continued work on the CPS program.
