Space Force Issues Draft Solicitation for GEARSS III GPS Sustainment Support

The U.S. Space Force has released a draft request for proposals for the third iteration of the GPS Engineering, Analysis and Remote Site Sustainment, or GEARSS, program.

According to a presolicitation notice published Tuesday, Space Operations Command Mission Delta 31, 31st Sustainment Squadron will accept comments, questions and feedback on the draft RFP through March 10.

What Is GEARSS III?

GEARSS III is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract that provides sustainment and related support services to the GPS operational unit, the 2nd Navigation Warfare Squadron. It encompasses network administration, remote site maintenance and defensive cyber operations, or DCO.

The planned procurement effort is a total small business set-aside program and a follow-on to the GEARSS II contract, which will expire on Dec. 31, 2025.

Contract Scope

During the performance of the GEARSS III contract, the selected vendor will perform program management tasks to ensure the execution of schedule, cost and performance of the task order and contract requirements.

The contractor will also provide data analysis, network monitoring and other mission-essential DCO services, remote site technician support and network administration office support in accordance with technical orders.

The IDIQ contract will also require operations, technical and engineering expertise to support ground system-related technical tasks, crew proficiency, on-orbit and launch activities and system simulation.

Work will primarily occur at Schriever Space Force Base in Colorado. Other places of performance include Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, Ascension Island in the South Atlantic, Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands.
