State Department OKs Poland’s $3.7B FMS Requests for Missile Defense Systems

The State Department has approved Poland’s foreign military sales requests worth $3.68 billion combined to procure short-, medium- and extended-range air defense missiles from the U.S. government.

Poland has requested 821 Lockheed Martin-manufactured (NYSE: LMT) Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile-Extended Range missiles and associated logistics and program support under a potential $1.77 billion FMS deal, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Tuesday.

RTX (NYSE: RTX) will deliver 745 AIM-120C-8 advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles, 16 AMRAAM guidance sections and 50 guided missile launchers to Poland as part of a $1.69 billion FMS agreement.

Poland also asked to purchase 232 RTX-built AIM-9X Sidewinder Block II tactical missiles and 16 tactical missile guidance units for approximately $219.1 million.

DSCA noted that the foreign buyer will use the requested defense equipment to boost its missile defense capabilities and increase interoperability with U.S. and allied forces.
