Peraton has been awarded a $174.6 million contract to help the U.S. Customs Border and Protection manage an airborne detection and monitoring system used in air, maritime and ground surveillance.
The award is for the continued provision of program management, operations and maintenance, life cycle management and mission support for the Tethered Aerostat Radar System, according to an award notice posted Thursday on SAM.gov.
CBP uses border surveillance data from TARS to support efforts to counter illegal activities such as drug smuggling and human trafficking.
The agency manages eight fixed aerostat sites with a suite of radars, cameras, communications systems, mooring systems, weather detection platforms and associated equipment.
The contract has a one-year base period of performance and four option years.
