A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) business unit has received an $84 million contract to continue clinical research work for a Defense Health Agency organization that trains and monitors service members and veterans affected by traumatic brain injury.
General Dynamics Information Technology will help personnel at the Traumatic Brain Injury Center of Excellence to carry out congressionally mandated projects, including the Warfighter Brain Health program and a 15-year study of TBI incurred in Afghanistan and Iraq wars, the company said Monday.
The contract has an eight-month base period along with a three-year option.
GDIT began supporting the TBICoE across 21 trauma rehabilitation sites and military treatment facilities worldwide in 2014 and has since published more than 250 articles outlining findings and advancements in TBI diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
“Our work over the past eight years with the TBICoE has yielded new advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of traumatic brain injuries,” said Kamal Narang, vice president and general manager of the federal health sector at GDIT.
