L3Harris Technologies (NYSE: LHX), Mercury Systems (Nasdaq: MRCY) and Pacific Defense have won cash prizes from the U.S. Army as the three finalists of a competition aimed to drive technological innovations that can facilitate the convergence of warfighting platforms.
All three companies presented prototypes for improving the C4ISR/Electronic Warfare Modular Open Suite of Standards as part of xTechCMFF Integration Fest, the service branch said Tuesday.
The contest was one of several such events hosted by the Army xTech Program to discover small or non-traditional businesses that have promising technological offerings.
Winning entries were judged by subject matter experts from the Department of Defense and underwent an in-vehicle swap analysis and environmental testing.
The xTechCMFF Integration Fest centered on CMOSS Mounted Form Factor, which implements the standards across the service’s programs of record, and is a prelude to the branch’s plan to release an Other Transaction Authority contract in fiscal year 2024.
Matt Willis, director of the Army’s Applied Small Business Innovation Program and prize competitions, said the competition worked to grow relationships between the branch and companies.
“Relationship-building between the Army and our nation’s top innovators is critical to injecting cutting-edge technology into government programs.”
