Lockheed Martin has received a pair of contract options worth $130.5 million combined to produce an additional eight simulators for the U.S. Air Force‘s Advanced Radar Threat System Variant 2 program.
The award represents the third and fourth options on the ARTS-V2 development and test contract, which has a cumulative face value of $589.8 million, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
USAF initially awarded the company a $104.6 million contract in June 2017 to develop, produce and field a system that can simulate medium-range surface-to-air missiles for use in training legacy and fifth-generation combat aircraft platforms.
The military branch tested and evaluated ARTS V2 features at the Snyder Electronic Scoring Site in Texas in late 2020.
Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business will perform work under the exercised options in Grand Prairie, Texas, through June 16, 2024.
Lockheed Martin is a sponsor for the Potomac Officers Club’s 2022 Air Force Forum, where AF Secretary Frank Kendall will deliver a keynote address. Click over to POC Events to learn more about the in-person event to be held on July 26 at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner, VA.
