Raytheon Technologies‘ (NYSE: RTX) missiles and defense business will manufacture Tomahawk missiles under a $217.1 million contract from the U.S. Navy and deliver the weapon systems to the service branch, the Army and Marine Corps.
The fixed-price-incentive, firm-fixed-price contract provides for the full-rate production of Block V Tactical Tomahawk All Up Round Vertical Launch System missiles, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
Work is scheduled for completion in January 2025, with 65 percent of efforts conducted in Tucson, Arizona; Pontiac, Michigan; Camden, Arkansas; and Huntsville, Alabama. The remaining contract activities will be done in several locations within and outside the U.S.
According to the Naval Air Systems Command, the FRP contract is the first Tomahawk acquisition that supports multiple service branches and is aimed at helping the Army and Marine Corps expand their selection of weapon systems.
NAVAIR will obligate $98.7 million in Navy fiscal 2022 weapons procurement funds at the time of award. The other funding will come from the services’ ammunition procurement and research, development, test and evaluation budget for the same fiscal year.
