A General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) subsidiary has received a $313.9 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to support industrial base development and expansion efforts for the Columbia, Ford and Virginia class ballistic missile submarines.
General Dynamics Electric Boat will also manufacture kits for the British Strategic Weapon Support System under the modification as part of a joint U.S.-U.K. program, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
The Groton, Connecticut-based military shipbuilder will perform tasks in Quonset Point, Rhode Island, and Newport News, Virginia, through September 2029.
Naval Sea Systems Command awarded the contract modification on a sole-source basis and will not obligate funds at the time of award.
The contract is authorized by the fiscal 2022 National Defense Authorization Act and appropriated by the DOD Appropriations Act of 2022.
