Patrick Shanahan, former acting secretary of the Department of Defense and a previous Wash100 awardee, has joined the board of directors at defense and security platforms manufacturer CAE.
Shanahan has gained three decades of sector experience and expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing and cybersecurity modernization, the Montreal-based company said Friday.
He will serve on the audit committee of the 12-member board of directors.
Shanahan, who served as deputy defense secretary from 2017 to 2019, was credited with establishing the Pentagon’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center and publishing the DOD AI Strategy in 2018.
Prior to DOD, he worked as senior vice president for supply chain and operations at Boeing (NYSE: BA) and managed commercial aircraft and defense system programs during his 30-year career with the company.
