The U.S. Army has kicked off solicitations for a potential $93.6 million contract to acquire digital night vision technology as the service branch aims to transition to networked digital sensing.
The Army said Wednesday in a SAM.gov notice it wants an open-architecture DNVT that combines night vision devices with sensors to support situational awareness and targeting.
Such technology should incorporate long-wave infrared imagers, image processing hardware and augmented reality algorithms, according to the notice.
The branch intends for head-up display devices to help soldiers receive information from DNVT sensors and to offer high resolution and boost sensing, situational awareness and laser hardening.
Interested parties can submit proposals through Feb. 1.
