President Joe Biden intends to nominate Andrew Hunter, director of the Center for Strategic International Studies’ defense-industrial initiatives group, to be the next U.S. Air Force assistant secretary for acquisition, technology and logistics, the White House said Friday.
Hunter will oversee research, development and acquisition programs throughout USAF if the Senate approves his nomination.
In his current capacity, the CSIS director focuses on technology and policy matters that affect the defense industrial base and concurrently serves as a senior fellow in the center’s international security program
He came to the Washington, D.C.-based think tank in late 2014 after his prior role as director of the Department of Defense’s Joint Rapid Acquisition Cell.
Previously, he was chief of staff to Ashton Carter and Frank Kendall during their terms as defense undersecretary for acquisition, technology and logistics.
