A Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) business unit has received a $318 million contract to help the Transportation Security Administration deploy equipment for the security screening of checked passenger bags at airports managed by the federal government.
Raytheon Intelligence & Space will expand the fielding of baggage screening platforms to around 430 federal airports nationwide under the five-year contract, the company said Monday.
“This nationwide expansion of our partnership allows us to continue to protect passengers from evolving security threats,” said John DeSimone, vice president of cybersecurity, training and services at RI&S.
RI&S previously helped the agency install new and updated systems at 155 airports throughout the central U.S. Over the past six years, the company has performed installation, modernization and decommissioning work on more than 1,700 pieces of equipment for the agency.
