Lockheed Martin‘s (NYSE: LMT) missiles and fire control business has secured a $214.7 million contract modification to continue modernization of the U.S. Army’s Multiple Launch Rocket System.
The service branch used fiscal 2021 missile procurement funds on this award covering M270A2 MLRS work, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
The Lockheed MFC segment initially received a three-year, $362.7M contract in April 2019 to update 225 MLRS M270A1 launchers and 160 decommissioned M270A0 to the latest configuration.
MLRS is a heavy tracked mobile launcher system designed to be transportable via C-17 and C-5 military aircraft and to fire guided rockets as well as tactical missiles.
Work under the modification will take place in Texas, through Sept. 30, 2024.
