Bryan Ware, a senior official at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, will step down from his post at DHS on Friday, Nov. 13, to join the private sector, CyberScoop reported Thursday.
Ware, who served as assistant director for cybersecurity at CISA, told the publication he is looking to establish a new technology company.
“I’m very proud of the work that CISA has done this year,” Ware said. “And I think against significant odds, the work we did on [protecting] elections is really a testament to what this agency can do.”
Ware previously served as assistant secretary for cyber, infrastructure and resilience policy at DHS and was responsible for leading policy development efforts with a focus on ensuring the cybersecurity of critical infrastructure and federal networks.
He is a tech entrepreneur who founded in 1998 an artificial intelligence company, which Haystax acquired in 2013. He also served as CEO of Haystax until its acquisition two years ago.
