Raytheon Technologies Books $213M Contract to Help Sustain UAE’s THAAD Missile Defense Radars

The Missile Defense Agency has awarded Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) a $212.8M contract to provide support services for the United Arab Emirates’ Terminal High Altitude Area Defense radars built to defend against ballistic missiles.

Raytheon will supply a prime power unit for two THAAD Army/Navy Transportable Radar Surveillance and Control-Series 2 radar systems and perform a range of sustainment work as part of the foreign military sales agreement, the Department of Defense said Friday.

AN/TPY-2 is a defense radar platform that works to detect, track and engage ballistic missiles. The system operates in the X-band spectrum and can be used in the terminal or forward-based modes.

Raytheon will perform contract work in Woburn, Massachusetts, and designated UAE locations from Oct. 1, 2020, through Sept. 30, 2025.

MDA will obligate the full amount in UAE FMS funds for the award.
