The U.S. Space Force has awarded Lockheed Martin's (NYSE: LMT) space business an $85M contract modification to extend logistics support for sensor-equipped satellites built to detect missile launches worldwide.
Lockheed will help USSF address logistical requirements for the Space Based Infrared System constellation that supports missile warning and defense, intelligence and situational awareness efforts, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
DoD noted that the contract has a cumulative face value of $1.91B.
Work will take place at Colorado-based facilities such as Greeley Air National Guard Station, Peterson AF Base and Buckley AFB.
The Space and Missile Systems Center oversees the SBIRS program, for which Lockheed is the prime contractor and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) is the payload integrator.
