NASA Selects Five Contractors for Potential $6B Rapid Spacecraft Acquisition IV IDIQ

Four companies and one nonprofit research organization have won spots on a potential $6B multiple-award  contract from NASA to provide spacecraft and mission support services to the federal government.

The Rapid Spacecraft Acquisition IV vehicle will include firm-fixed-price orders for ancillary equipment, components and operational assistance, NASA said Saturday.

The agency first announced its plans to solicit proposals for the Rapid IV contract in March of last year. According to the presolicitation notice, NASA expects contract services to support design, development, launch and on-orbit checkout operations for designated government missions.

NASA noted that it intends to periodically add new contractors to the Rapid IV's vendor pool through on-ramp  solicitation procedures.

The awardees are:

  • Ball Aerospace
  • Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR)
  • Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC)
  • Southwest Research Institute
  • Tyvak Nano-Satellite Systems
