The General Services Administration and the Department of Defense’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center have awarded Booz Allen Hamilton (NYSE: BAH) a potential five-year, $800 million task order to develop artificial intelligence-based technology platforms to support U.S. military operations.
“The Joint Warfighting mission initiative will provide the Joint Force with AI-enabled solutions vital to improving operational effectiveness in all domains,” said Lt. Gen. Jack Shanahan, director of JAIC and a 2020 Wash100 Award recipient. “This contract will be an important element as the JAIC increasingly focuses on fielding AI-enabled capabilities that meet the needs of the warfighter and decision-makers at every level.”
Booz Allen will work to help the DoD incorporate the technology into analysis and decision-making processes to prepare military personnel for data-based warfare operations.
The company will provide AI product development, data labeling, management and conditioning and transition services in support of the Joint Warfighter National Mission Initiative.
GSA noted its Federal Systems Integration and Management Center and Technology Transformation Services office work together to increase access to modern technology across the government. TTS’ Centers of Excellence supports the process of identifying opportunities to increase operational efficiency at agencies.
“This award represents an important step in the JAIC’s delivery of AI solutions across the Department of Defense,” said GSA Administrator Emily Murphy, three-time Wash100 awardee. “I'm thrilled that the merger of TTS and FAS in 2017 continues to reap benefits for our customers.”
