General Dynamics’ (NYSE: GD) information technology business has been selected to develop, test and deploy deep-learning technologies for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office under a potential five-year, $50M blanket purchase agreement.
The Intelligent Automation and Innovation Support Services BPA contains one base year plus four one-year options and involves piloting and implementation of emerging technology in the artificial intelligence, machine learning and natural language processing areas, GDIT said Monday.
The resulting technologies are intended to simplify the agency's business processes such as the prediction of fraudulent transactions as well as the processing of citizen requests and trademark applications.
“This contract represents an important step in helping USTPO advance the broader federal government goal to advance the adoption of AI and the way it can be applied to enhance machine potential and expand human capacity,” said Paul Nedzbala, senior vice president of the federal civilian division at GDIT.
The business also intends to apply its experience in AI, ML and robotic process automation to support the agency.
GDIT has provided operational support to USPTO for nearly two decades.
