Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) has received a potential $69M task order to modernize and sustain the Internal Revenue Service’s web-based customer service portal for tax practitioners who want to electronically transact with the agency.
The task order, which has six base months and four option years, covers support for IRS’ e-Services and Integrated Customer Communications Environment and related software applications, the company said Tuesday.
ICCE’s e-services software suite includes web- and phone-based apps powered by an automated technology designed to support customer service and electronic processing for taxpayers.
Work will also involve updating IRS’ registration interface for third-party entities as well as its data-sharing platform that facilitates collaboration with other agencies.
Art Ibers, senior vice president and manager of Leidos’ exploration and mission support division, said the company will apply its software development and programming experience to help the agency speed up system processes.
The project will take place at IRS facilities located in Texas, Maryland and Virginia.
