A spokesman for the Department of Defense said DoD does not intend to split the potential 10-year, $10B Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure cloud computing contract between Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Amazon Web Services, Breaking Defense reported Monday.
Lt. Col. Robert Carver, public affairs officer at DoD, told the publication the Pentagon did not discard the possibility of overturning its contract award decision.
The Pentagon filed a motion for voluntary remand asking the court for 120 days to review the contract decision and reconsider its assessment of the bidders’ “online marketplace offerings.”
Carver said in an emailed statement to the publication DoD will carry out a reassessment of the existing proposals and revisions to the offers to ensure that the concerns raised by the Court of Federal Claims are addressed.
“The Department will make a new award decision based upon those re-evaluations, which will be in conformity with the solicitation requirements and stated evaluation criteria,” Carver wrote. “DoD will not ‘split the award,’ as the requirement remains for a single award and the solicitation calls for a single award.”
