Lockheed Martin's (NYSE: LMT) Sikorsky subsidiary has secured a $525.4M contract modification from the U.S. Army to build an additional 40 UH-60M helicopters.
Sikorsky will provide 38 units of the multimission Black Hawk variant to the service branch and two aircraft to foreign military sales customers, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.
DoD noted the modification represents an option covering a lot 44 production requirement under Year 4 of the Army MY IX Program. Work under the exercised option will take place in Stratford, Conn., through June 30, 2022.
The U.S. government awarded Sikorsky the potential $5.2B Multi-Year IX contract in 2017 to build 257 H-60 Black Hawk helicopters.
