Matt Garman
Matt Garman, a veteran engineering executive at Amazon Web Services, has been appointed head of sales at AWS, Bloomberg reported Monday.
He will report to AWS CEO Andy Jassy as he oversees the sales and marketing teams of Amazon’s (Nasdaq: AMZN) cloud division.
In December, Amazon added Garman to CEO Jeff Bezos’ S-team, which sets the company’s corporate strategy and priorities.
Garman joined Amazon in 2006. He previously led the engineering teams responsible for the Seattle-based technology and e-commerce company’s rented computing power services.
Rachel Thornton will succeed the departing Ariel Kelman as marketing chief at AWS and will report to Garman. Kelman is set to move to Oracle (NYSE: ORCL) to assume a top marketing position.
