A Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) division has received a potential four-year, $129.7M contract to provide hull planning yard, technical and engineering support for the U.S. Navy™s Gerald R. Ford-class (CVN 78) and Nimitz-class (CVN 68) nuclear-powered aircraft carriers.
HII™s Newport News Shipbuilding division will offer aircraft carrier design, development, testing and conversion services as well as perform modernization work and procurement of spares, test equipment, repair parts and other materials in support of the military branch™s operational fleet of carriers, the Department of Defense said Thursday.
The cost-plus-fixed-fee contract has a base amount of $30.8M and includes engineering and logistics studies in relation to ship alterations, repairs and upgrades of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems.
Naval Sea Systems Command will obligate $8.9M in funds at the time of award.
Work will occur in Newport News, Va., through September 2023.
