Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has received a potential $141M task order to provide targeting pods for the U.S. Air Force.
The company said Thursday that it will also perform upgrades on existing LITENING targeting pods under the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity task order.
LITENING is a multisensor surveillance and targeting system designed to help aircrews detect, track and engage targets at long ranges. It features laser imaging and 1K FLIR sensors, plug-and-play data link options and high-definition video.
The targeting pod is being used by the Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps and international military clients and has been fielded on various aircraft including F-16, F-15, F/A-18, A-10, AV-8B, B-52, C-130 and MQ-9.
Brent Toland, vice president of land and avionics C4ISR at Northrop, said the task order seeks to demonstrate how LITENING helps clients integrate mission capabilities.
