The Department of Defense is expected to award in August the potential 10-year, $10 billion Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure cloud computing contract to Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) or Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN), Bloomberg reported Thursday.
Amid the impending contract award, sources told the publication that President Donald Trump requested to see the correspondence from Republican lawmakers who have expressed concerns about the JEDI cloud contract competition, but did not indicate any plans of barring the contract from being awarded to one of the two vendors.
The president wanted to understand what the issues were, what our concerns were, Senate Homeland Security Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) said in an interview.
A federal claims court judge dismissed Friday Oracles (NYSE: ORCL) claims of conflicts of interest and unfair requirements in the competition for the cloud contract, according to the report. The Pentagon issued the final requirements for the single-award contract in July 2018.
