The U.S. Air Force plans to award Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory a $93M contract extension to help the military branch engineer space-based systems.
Under the sole-source contract, APL will continue to provide research and development services in areas such as space science and engineering, strategic systems, theater air defense and information technology, USAF said Thursday in a FedBizOpps notice.
The laboratory will also help the Space and Missile Systems Center integrate systems, identify technology requirements, develop specifications, name concepts and build prototypes.
The two-year modification would double the cumulative value of a contract originally awarded last year to $186M and extend performance of work through May 2025.
