Avon Protection Systems has received a five-year, $245.9M contract to produce and deliver M53A1 Chemical Biological Protective Mask systems to the U.S. Army.
The service branch solicited one bid for the firm-fixed-price contract and will assign performance locations and funds per order, the Department of Defense said Monday.
M53A1 is designed for use in military operations and deployable in air-purifying, powered air purifying and self-contained breathing modes.
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has approved the M53A1 mask for domestic response missions.
DoD expects the company to finish contract work by March 24, 2024.
